Pianist Seo Hee Kang is a passionate and versatile artist. She has performed throughout the United States, France, Scotland, and South Korea. She has been conferred a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Literature (2014, May) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with Internationally acclaimed pianist and conductor, Ian Hobson.
In Korea, she studied with Professor Hee-Sung Joo at Seoul National University, where she earned the Bachelor of Music degree with honors. After graduating from Seoul National University, Ms. Kang moved to the United States to pursue her music career. She studied with Natalya Antonova at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where she earned the Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Literature in 2009.
A dedicated piano teacher, Dr. Kang has more than ten years of piano teaching experience. Her students range from age five through adult, of all levels and abilities. She taught piano major and non- piano major students at Andrews University as an Adjunct Piano Faculty. She was also a piano instructor of Piano Laboratory Program in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign teaching all ages and all levels. Her educational goal is to enrich students by revealing their musical artistry and to give positive musical experience to students to be able to have a life of music.
Ms. Kang has been placed top prizes at the competitions in U.S and South Korea, including Sinfonia da Camera Concerto Competition (IL), Southern Illinois Young Artist Competition (IL), Eumyoun Competition (Seoul), Sungjung Cultural Foundation Competition (Seoul), Kyungsung University Competition (Busan), and Kyunghyang Music Competition (Busan).
