About Me
Welcome! My name is Seo Hee Kang, and I am a pianist and dedicated piano educator with over 15 years of teaching experience. I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to advanced performers, guiding them to develop both strong technical foundations and expressive musical artistry.
I previously taught as Adjunct Piano Faculty at Andrews University and as an instructor in the Piano Laboratory Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. These experiences shaped my teaching philosophy: to foster a genuine love for music, to build confidence through consistent growth, and to create positive, lasting musical experiences for every student.
I earned my Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I studied with internationally renowned pianist and conductor Ian Hobson. I also hold a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, where I studied with Natalya Antonova, and a Bachelor of Music with honors from Seoul National University, where I studied with Hee Sung Joo.
In addition to teaching, I have been honored to receive prizes in competitions in both the United States and South Korea, including the Sinfonia da Camera Concerto Competition, Southern Illinois Young Artist Competition, Eumyoun Competition, Sungjung Cultural Foundation Competition, Kyungsung University Competition, and Kyunghyang Music Competition.
Above all, I am passionate about sharing the joy of music and helping each student reach their fullest potential at the piano.
